his citation stating: "The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Lieutenant Commander [then Lieutenant] Kent Manning Cushman
along with a lapel button featuring a rosette ribbon with a yellow ribbon base denoting Grand Cordon class

Obverse center shows symbolic V for victory and attached to the arms of the V are American and British flags, top of badge has inscription Nth Africa imposed on French flag, bottom shows the inscription 8 Nov 1942, reverse horizontal bar pin, 44. 4 mm (h) x 58. 7mm (w), extremely fine condition. Footnote: This badge was made to commemorate Operation Torch, the Allied invasion of French North Africa in 1942. Torch was a compromise
